Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Staff Mobile Engineer, iOS to lead the design and development of the iOS platform for the Lingo biosensing app in Alameda, CA. You will set architectural direction, drive modern iOS practices, and own large initiatives from concept to production.

You will guide a transition from React Native to native iOS, ensure feature parity, and work with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure mobile experiences with strong performance and observability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, systems engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of professional iOS engineering experience, including architecture and technical direction of production apps.
• Expert-level proficiency in Swift and modern iOS development (SwiftUI) and MVVM/MVI patterns.
• Working knowledge of React Native for migration planning and bridging to native modules.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of complex iOS apps and shared platform components (SDKs, libraries).
• Define and drive modern iOS architecture standards (Swift, SwiftUI, MVVM/MVI, modularization).
• Own large initiatives from concept to production, including CI/CD, build optimization, and observability.
• Lead migration from React Native to native iOS, bridging RN and native code while preserving feature parity.
• Collaborate with product, architects, and stakeholders to define technical specs and roadmaps.
• Investigate issues, champion observability, and integrate AI/ML capabilities into iOS apps.
