Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Staff Mobile Engineer, Android for the Alameda, CA team. You will lead the design and development of Android applications and platform components powering biosensing experiences.

Provide architectural direction, mentor engineers, and drive migration from React Native to native Android across the organization. You will partner with backend teams, define scalable APIs, optimize performance, and lead end-to-end delivery, testing, CI/CD, and observability, while integrating AI/ML

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 8–10 years of software engineering experience with strong Android development expertise.
• Deep proficiency in Kotlin and modern Android frameworks with Jetpack Compose preferred.
• Working knowledge of React Native to plan migrations and bridge native modules.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex Android applications and shared mobile platform components (SDKs, libraries, tooling).
• Define and drive modern Android architecture standards, including Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flow, MVVM/MVI, and modularization.
• Own large, ambiguous initiatives from concept to production and establish long-term Android technical strategy.
