Job summary

BlackSky seeks a Staff HDL Engineer to lead digital hardware design for spacecraft avionics. You will own requirements, design, verification, and transition to production, working across systems, software, and mechanical teams in a hybrid setting out of Tukwila, WA.

Requirements include a BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering, 10+ years in digital design with HDL, and hands-on lab experience. Strong collaboration and US citizenship are needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of digital design with HDL programming, test benches and prototype testing.
• Experience with embedded processors in a SoC FPGA and its interfaces.
• Demonstrated ability to write test benches using ModelSim, Vivado Simulator, or similar.
• Hands-on lab experience using test equipment (multi-meters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Serve as digital hardware design engineer for spacecraft avionics, with involvement in all phases from requirements to production.
• Synthesize design requirements from unit and system level specifications.
• Write HDL for FPGAs and verify via simulation and test.
• Create test benches for your designs.
• Troubleshoot performance during hardware testing/bring-up.
• Create interface and design docs to support FSW verification.
• Interface with external suppliers to develop specs and integration/test approaches.
• Support R&D initiatives and contribute to new avionics products.
