Job summary

BlackSky is seeking a Staff HDL Engineer to own digital hardware design for spacecraft avionics from concept through production. You will define requirements, write HDL for FPGA devices, and verify designs with simulations and real hardware in a highly collaborative team.

In this hybrid role based in Tukwila, WA, you will work with systems, software and mechanical engineers to deliver robust avionics products while mentoring peers and contributing to R&D initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in digital design with HDL programming, test benches and prototype testing.
• Experience with embedded processors in an SoC FPGA and interfaces.
• Proven ability to write test benches with ModelSim or Vivado.
• Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes, multi-meters and test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as digital hardware design engineer for spacecraft avionics through all development stages.
• Synthesize design requirements from unit and system level specs.
• Write HDL for various FPGAs and verify with simulation and test.
• Create test benches and perform hardware bring-up and debugging.
• Document interfaces and design descriptions to support FSW verification.
• Interact with external suppliers to define specs and tests, and support integration.
• Participate in R&D initiatives and support new avionics products.
