Job summary

Boston Dynamics in Waltham, MA is seeking a Staff Hardware Test Engineer to collaborate with design engineers, validating and qualifying cutting-edge robotics. You will develop test strategies, build fixtures, and run DVT and compliance tests to ensure product quality.

The role requires hands-on hardware testing, LabVIEW, Python, and UNIX-like OS proficiency, plus the ability to analyze data and drive design improvements. Up to 10% travel may be required. Base pay range is stated in the posting.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with NI LabVIEW, python, and command-line operations in a UNIX-like OS.
• Experience with test automation.
• Experience with communication interfaces, e.g. CAN, Ethernet, SPI, and I2C.
• Hands-on experience designing, building and debugging electro-mechanical test setups.
• Experience with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, power supplies, programmable loads, thermal probes.
• Experience with compliance testing including conducted/radiated emissions and safety.

Responsibilities

• Develop test strategies for new technologies, hardware and firmware.
• Develop Python code and code infrastructure.
• Perform data analysis, root cause issues and suggest design improvements.
• Design and build test fixtures from scratch.
• Carry out DVT, reliability testing and compliance testing.
• Be a vocal proponent for quality, both internally and as a representative of our company.
• Create and modify scripts to iterate testing procedures.
