Job summary

Amperesand is seeking a Staff or Sr. Staff Applications Engineer, Grid Integration to lead interconnection work for customer projects within the Deployment team. You will be the primary Amperesand interface for EPCs, Utilities, and product teams.

You’ll validate PSCAD, PSSE, and other models and own the customer-sharable electrical model package. You’ll guide customers in model usage, explore new product applications, and ensure compliance with Utility/ISO/RTO requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related field (advanced degree is a plus).
• Proficiency with PSCAD and PSSE (and related EMT/phasor-domain tools).
• Experience with MW-scale power electronics, grid-tie inverters, and MV infrastructure design.
• Experience with utility-scale interconnection processes and direct engagement with utilities.

Responsibilities

• Act as Amperesand’s primary technical authority on grid integration, interfacing with Utilities, EPCs, and customer teams.
• Validate the PSCAD, PSSE, and other models to ensure accuracy across architectures and requirements.
• Utilize EMT models to study and develop reference architectures for customer bases.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive technical package including documentation and model assets for customers and partners.
• Interact with Utilities and National Labs to analyze the sector and guide product direction.
• Track policy changes on large load connections and translate implications into guidance.
• Support product/engineering to document grid connection requirements like ride-through and codes.
• Collaborate with Sales, Product, Engineering, Compliance to land projects and support onsite deployments.
