Job summary
NV5 is seeking a Staff Geologist in Nevada City, CA to support a variety of infrastructure projects. Under the direction of a Senior Geologist, you will contribute to environmental and engineering geological studies, field investigations, data interpretation, and documentation for client projects.
You will work with civil, structural, and environmental teams, gaining hands-on experience in planning, testing, and reporting while developing your professional skills in a collaborative,
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Geologist In Training (GIT) a plus.
- Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
- Ability to report observations clearly in writing and verbally.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to environmental and engineering geological studies, evaluations, modeling, and investigations under supervision.
- Assist with surface/groundwater work, geotechnical soil investigations, field mapping, and drilling.
- Prepare work plans, interpret data and test results, and contribute to technical reports.
- Prepare and review inspection/observation reports under supervision before submission to agencies/clients.
- Perform field investigations and coordinate laboratory testing under direction of supervising engineer/geologist.
- Prepare project documentation for review by supervising engineer/geologist.
- Review field testing/observation practices and work products.
