Job summary

NV5’s Nevada City, CA office is seeking a Staff Engineer who resides in or near Northern California to join our in-office team. This role supports a diverse portfolio of geotechnical and civil infrastructure projects.

Under the guidance of a Senior Engineer, you will assist with analysis, design development, drafting, and project implementation, collaborating with civil, structural, and environmental professionals.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering degree or master's with a focus in geotechnical engineering.
• 1-4 years of experience is a plus.
• EIT working toward PE license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical investigations and field studies 75%-80%.
• Prepare, check, and review plans, detail drawings, and specifications for site layout, foundations, structural steel, and underground utilities under supervision.
• Develop 2D and 3D construction/layout drawings for site grading/drainage/permit drawings.
• Coordinate Civil and Structural designs with Mechanical and Electrical / I&C disciplines.
• Review and compare Civil / Structural subcontractor drawings against base models for accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain or develop new project drawing files for all related drawings in accordance with company standards and procedures.
• Collaborate with Geotechnical, Civil, and Geologic engineers and designers.
