Job summary

Oscar is seeking a Staff Fullstack Engineer to join our team. You will primarily design and build scalable backend systems powering our machine learning‑powered voice technology, while contributing across the stack where needed.

You will lead backend architecture, scale services and APIs, and mentor engineers, partnering with product, design, and customers to drive product direction. Strong Python/React and cloud experience are required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production software.
• Strong backend engineering experience designing distributed systems, scalable APIs, and cloud-native applications.
• Proven experience leading delivery of major products or platform initiatives from concept through adoption.
• Demonstrated technical leadership with driving architecture and influencing engineering direction.

Oscar is working with a leading AI agent company that is looking for a Staff Fullstack Engineer to join their team.

As the Staff Fullstack Engineer with deep backend expertise, you'll help architect and scale the services powering our Developer and Enterprise APIs. While you'll contribute across the full stack when needed, your primary focus will be designing and building reliable, scalable backend systems that bring our machine learning-powered voice technology to customers around the world.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, implementation, deployment, and evolution of complex product features from concept through customer adoption.
• Architect and scale backend services and APIs that power our conversation intelligence platform.
• Work across the stack when appropriate, partnering closely with Product, Design, and Engineering to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
• Make sound technical and architectural decisions, balancing speed, scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
• Break down ambiguous problems into clear, actionable technical solutions with well-defined tradeoffs.
• Raise the engineering bar through high-quality code, thoughtful system design, and engineering best practices.
• Improve developer productivity by enhancing tooling, workflows, and platform capabilities.
• Mentor engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, and code reviews while fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
• Partner directly with customers and cross-functional stakeholders to understand needs and influence product direction.

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production software.
• Python, React, API integration, and backend infrastructure.
• Strong backend engineering experience designing distributed systems, scalable APIs, and cloud-native applications.
• Proven experience leading the delivery of major products or platform initiatives from initial concept through customer adoption.
• Demonstrated technical leadership with a history of driving architecture, influencing engineering direction, and delivering high-impact solutions.
• Strong understanding of backend services, API design, databases, distributed systems, and modern software architecture.

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience building and operating applications on AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps best practices.
• Experience deploying or integrating machine learning models into production environments, particularly for speech, audio, or voice applications.
• Background building developer platforms, public APIs, or SDKs.
