Job summary

Oscar is seeking a Staff Fullstack Engineer to join our team. You will primarily design and build scalable backend systems powering our machine learning‑powered voice technology, while contributing across the stack where needed.

You will lead backend architecture, scale services and APIs, and mentor engineers, partnering with product, design, and customers to drive product direction. Strong Python/React and cloud experience are required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production software.
• Strong backend engineering experience designing distributed systems, scalable APIs, and cloud-native applications.
• Proven experience leading delivery of major products or platform initiatives from concept through adoption.
• Demonstrated technical leadership with driving architecture and influencing engineering direction.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, deployment, and evolution of complex features from concept through adoption.
• Architect and scale backend services and APIs powering the platform.
• Collaborate across product, design, and engineering to deliver strong customer experiences.
• Make architectural decisions balancing speed, scalability, and maintainability.
• Break down ambiguous problems into actionable technical solutions with clear tradeoffs.
• Raise engineering quality through code and system design and best practices.
• Improve developer productivity with tooling, workflows, and platform enhancements.
• Mentor engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, and code reviews.
