Mattermost, Inc. is seeking a Staff Full Stack Engineer to set the technical direction for and scale Mattermost’s core web platform. You will lead architecture across Go backend and React/TypeScript frontend, collaborating with teams to ship features with strong security, compliance, and reliability.

Qualifications

• Senior full-stack development experience in Go and React, owning complex systems end-to-end.
• Experience designing distributed systems or high-availability service architecture at scale.
• Experience designing and consuming REST and WebSocket APIs with networking fundamentals.
• Relational database experience including PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on fluency directing AI coding agents for scaffolding and refactors, with judgment to take control when needed.
• Ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams without formal authority.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and raising technical standards.
• Comfortable in regulated or high-compliance environments (enterprise security/government).

Responsibilities

• Define and drive architecture and roadmap for core web platform across Go, React, PostgreSQL, and Redis.
• Set org-wide standards for AI-agentic engineering workflows with accountability for security and design.
• Lead internal tooling and testing infrastructure strategy to speed delivery.
• Own testing strategy and quality across frontend and backend systems with code reviews.
• Drive API design decisions for REST and WebSocket with solid networking fundamentals.
• Partner with security/compliance/product leadership on government/enterprise requirements.
• Mentor senior engineers and act as a technical multiplier across the org.
• Contribute to and shape direction for Mattermost’s open-source codebase.
