Job summary

Button is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer, Full Stack, to define the architectural direction for our core commerce platforms. You will work across teams to set standards, write production-grade code, and drive zero-to-one initiatives in a fast, high-trust environment.

You will collaborate with Engineering and Product leadership, operating with technologies like React, TypeScript, Go, Python, Docker, and AWS, while mentoring others and improving system reliability at scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building production systems at scale.
• Track record of taking zero to one products end to end.
• Deep full stack expertise across UIs, APIs, backend services, and data infrastructure.
• Strong fluency in JavaScript and TypeScript (React, NodeJS) and Go; solid Python for ML/data work.

Responsibilities

• Define full stack architectures for large scale systems and drive adoption across teams.
• Stay hands on: write production code, build proofs of concept, own zero to one projects end to end.
• Dive into projects across teams and domains and connect architectural dots at the company level.
• Own critical technical problems with high ambiguity and drive delivery to product goals.
• Apply machine learning to production, including deployment, evaluation, and monitoring.
• Partner with Product leadership to align roadmaps with company strategy.
• Raise the bar on engineering best practices and operational health.
• Develop senior engineers into technical leaders through mentorship.
