Job summary

BuildOps in Los Angeles region is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to architect, build, and optimize our full-stack platform across scalable frontend apps (React.js) and high-performance backend services (Node.js, GraphQL, REST). You will mentor engineers and influence best practices in a distributed team, delivering reliable software for the commercial contracting industry.

You will own API design, database optimization, and UI components with Material-UI, while driving observability, testing

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in full-stack JavaScript/TypeScript architecture.
• Strong React.js expertise and scalable frontend design.
• Backend development with Node.js and GraphQL/REST APIs.
• Proficient in SQL databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL).
• Experience with CI/CD, testing, and performance tuning.
• Mentors engineers and leads technical initiatives.
• Excellent communication for cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain the full-stack platform (frontend and backend).
• Lead technical decisions across the stack for performance and maintainability.
• Design and optimize APIs powering frontend and integrations.
• Improve database design and query performance.
• Enhance UI components with Material-UI for a consistent UX.
• Own observability: logging, monitoring, and performance analysis.
• Define testing strategies and collaborate with QA and engineers.
• Mentor engineers and lead cross-team technical initiatives.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders and leadership.
