Job summary

Meta is recruiting a Staff Software Engineer to shape JavaScript tooling and developer infrastructure. You will design JS compiler enhancements, enhance linters and test runners, and integrate AI-powered capabilities into workflows.

You’ll guide architecture and technical direction for tooling that scales across Meta’s product family. You will mentor engineers, coordinate across teams, and address performance bottlenecks in builds and runtimes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/engineering.
• 8+ years in front-end software engineering across JavaScript/HTML/CSS.
• Experience leading front-end initiatives with complex architectures and cross-team coordination.
• Experience designing scalable, performant UI systems for large user bases.
• Experience using data, experiments, and telemetry to guide decisions.
• Ability to document and communicate technical decisions clearly.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of compiler passes and JavaScript transformations.
• Build and enhance developer tooling infrastructure (linters, test runners, analysis tools).
• Integrate AI capabilities into developer workflows for automated fixes and tooling assistance.
• Drive end-to-end delivery of JS tooling initiatives across teams.
• Resolve performance bottlenecks in build systems, bundlers, and JS execution.
• Establish best practices for JS tooling, AST manipulation, and incremental compilation.
• Mentor engineers in compiler design and tooling architecture.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to drive technical decisions and roadmaps.
