Job summary

Mozilla Corporation’s Firefox Performance team seeks a Staff Firefox Performance Engineer. The role is remote within the US, focusing on delivering the fastest browser possible across platforms with a distributed team.

You will work with C++, JavaScript, and other languages to fix bottlenecks, educate engineers, and drive performance improvements end‑to‑end. A strong emphasis on measurement and collaboration across teams is required.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering required.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in performance engineering.
• Proven experience developing performance‑critical software.
• Proficiency in C++ and JavaScript.
• Experience debugging and profiling performance bottlenecks.

Responsibilities

• Write code and tests, profile bottlenecks and build prototypes.
• Learn from a large, evolving codebase across platforms.
• Fix performance issues using C++ and JavaScript.
• Educate engineers on writing more performant code via reviews, talks, tooling, and docs.
• Break down complex performance problems into actionable steps and drive to completion.
• Collaborate with distributed teams to support performance efforts.
• Contribute to performance benchmarks and roadmap direction.
• Own performance of a significant browser area end‑to‑end.
