Job summary

Mozilla Firefox Performance team seeks engineers to drive the fastest browser on Windows, Android, Linux and macOS. You will write code and tests, profile bottlenecks, and help educate others to achieve faster, more reliable code across platforms.

You’ll use C++, JavaScript, Kotlin, Rust, Python and contribute to the performance roadmap while working in a distributed team to ship changes that matter to users worldwide.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in CS or CE and 5+ years of relevant performance roles.
• Deep proficiency in C++ and strong debugging of performance bottlenecks.
• Experience with multithreading, disk I/O, or GPU work and profiling tools.
• Ability to work in a distributed team with strong written and verbal communication.
• Experience on a modern web browser.

Responsibilities

• Write code and tests, build prototypes, tackle problems, profile and analyze performance bottlenecks.
• Learn about a wide variety of problems and solutions across a large, evolving codebase.
• Use languages like C++, JavaScript, Kotlin, Rust, Python to fix performance issues.
• Educate engineers on performance via code reviews, talks, tooling, and documentation.
• Break down complex problems and drive them to completion.
• Partner with engineering teams to support performance efforts and lead them.
• Contribute to performance benchmarks and the team roadmap.
• Own the performance of a significant browser area end-to-end.
• Collaborate with team members to bring the Open Web to millions.
