Mozilla is looking for an experienced Performance Engineer to own end-to-end browser performance across Windows, Android, Linux, and macOS. You will work on a distributed team, using C++ and JavaScript to fix bottlenecks and teach others through reviews and tooling.

The role emphasizes collaborating across teams, profiling with VTune as well as other tools, and driving performance improvements that impact millions of users globally.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in CS or CE, and 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Deep proficiency in C++.
• Working proficiency in JavaScript.
• Experience developing performance‑critical software.
• Skill in debugging and profiling performance bottlenecks and using profiling tools.

Responsibilities

• Write code and tests, build prototypes, and profile performance bottlenecks.
• Learn a wide range of problems across a large, evolving codebase.
• Fix performance issues using C++, JavaScript, and other languages.
• Educate engineers on writing more performant code via reviews, talks, tooling, or docs.
• Drive complex performance problems to actionable next steps and completion.
• Partner with teams to support performance efforts and lead initiatives in your area.
• Contribute to performance benchmarks and roadmap directions.
• Own end-to-end performance for a significant browser area.
