The role emphasizes collaboration with engineering teams, adherence to standards, and applying the Quality Program to ensure accuracy and consistency across outputs.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate required; Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design preferred.
• Typically 5 years of related work experience.
• Proficient in CAD/BIM and design software (CAD/BIM, 3D modelling).

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES:

The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS)Staff Engineering Technician plays a key role in supporting the development ofhigh‑quality engineering deliverables for these complex infrastructureprojects. Under general supervision, this position performs technical tasksrequiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices, witha focus on creating and modifying site development plans using industry‑standarddesign tools, such as Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Functions in a project engineering techniciancapacity.

Under general direction, supports engineering anddesign teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables.

Applies foundational engineering principles andestablished design practices to create moderately complex design concepts andsolutions.

Utilizes digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD,BIM, 3D modelling) to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation,drawings, and project deliverables.

Provides technical guidance and may offer direction toother engineering professionals and technicians to ensure quality andconsistency across project outputs.

Applies knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides,applicable codes and policies and procedures.

Mayreview project requirements and accurately determine the correct formatand contents of the required deliverables.

Proactivelyapplies Quality Program to deliverables. Demonstrates personal accuracyand supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.

Reviewsdesign inputs in order to ensure consistency. Assists to ensuredeliverables are in compliance with the specific codes and standardssuitable for the project.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Diplomaor Certificate required. Associate Degree in Drafting or an EngineeringDesign Related Technology preferred.
