Job summary

Service Up is seeking a Staff Engineer Tech Lead to guide a small team of engineers (about four direct reports) while continuing to contribute hands-on to architectural direction and delivery of our platform.

This player-coach role balances design reviews, mentoring, and end-to-end ownership with collaboration across Product and Design; you will work across our modern stack and support external customers and internal teams in a remote, async-first environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience, with 2-3 years directly managing engineers through performance cycles, promotions, and hiring.
• Staff-level depth with strong opinions on system design, testing, and code quality.
• Experience across TS, React, NestJS, GraphQL, REST, PostgreSQL, Redis, GCP or adjacent stacks.
• Excellent communication and collaboration in a remote, async-first environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of complex, scalable software systems as a hands-on contributor on roadmap-critical work.
• Manage, mentor, coach, and grow ~4 engineers through weekly 1:1s, clear goals, direct feedback, performance reviews, and career planning.
