Job summary

Shield AI is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to design, deploy, and sustain program networks for HIL laboratories and simulation environments. You will work on software-defined radios, SDN, and complex aircraft-ground networks, coordinating across multiple programs and handling repeatable configurations.

You will implement network test plans, observability, and automation, leveraging tools like Ansible, Netmiko, and Terraform, while ensuring secure, scalable lab infrastructure and strong

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 3 years with a Master's degree
• Strong knowledge of Ethernet and TCP/IP networking, including VLANs, routing, DNS, DHCP, QoS
• Hands-on experience with switches, routers, firewalls, Linux hosts in lab/development environments
• Proficiency in Python or similar for network automation and tooling
• Experience with HIL/integration-lab or test-infrastructure environments

Responsibilities

• Design, build, configure, and maintain scalable network architectures for HIL labs and test infra
• Define Layer 2/3 configurations, addressing, VLANs, multicast, QoS, and redundancy
• Develop networking software and config-as-code, automation, and validation tools
• Integrate network hardware into representative HIL environments and program networks
• Create and execute network test plans covering connectivity, throughput, latency, and reliability
• Build observability with logs, metrics, dashboards, and health checks
• Reproduce and resolve complex network issues using Wireshark, tcpdump, and diagnostics
• Collaborate with Solutions & Integration teams to reproduce deployed network issues and support demonstrations
• Maintain network baselines, IP assignments, inventories, diagrams, and change records
• Integrate network config and tests into source-control and CI/CD workflows
