Job summary

Google is seeking a Staff Engineer for BigQuery Managed Storage in Seattle. You will own outcomes, influence stakeholders, and tackle ambiguous problems while shaping BigQuery architecture and future directions.

This role sits in the BigQuery team working on storage components for massive data processing and coordinating across product managers and customers. The position emphasizes leadership in a matrixed organization, data analytics experience with Iceberg/Spark/Flink, and a strong background

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience building large-scale infrastructure or similar.
• 5 years of experience in the Data Analytics ecosystem (Iceberg, Spark, Flink, Pandas, Arrow).

Responsibilities

• Design and implement storage components for large-scale data processing.
• Design tests and experiments to evaluate system performance.
• Use broad tooling to develop, test, and rollout features.
• Coordinate with engineers, Product Managers, and customers to grow the business.
