Job summary

Apex Companies is seeking an Engineer 1 - Staff Engineer in the United States. The role involves conducting design calculations, preparing bid documents, and handling permit applications while performing fieldwork such as surveying, GPS data collection, and infrastructure inspections.

You'll use AutoCAD and GIS for planning and design, mentor interns, contribute to master planning, and assist clients with regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required.
• 1–3 years of related experience.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and GIS applications; MS Office proficiency.
• EIT certification helpful; if working toward EIT, obtain within the first year.

Responsibilities

• Design calculations.
• Bid documents including specifications and drawings.
• State, federal, and local permit applications.
• Perform fieldwork such as surveying, GPS data collection, infrastructure inspections and assessment, water sampling, traffic counts, and construction observation.
• Contribute to reports describing objectives, methods, results, and conclusions from field efforts.
• Use technical software to support transportation, wastewater, drinking water or stormwater projects.
• Use AutoCAD and GIS applications to support planning and design.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff; provide on-the-job training and mentoring for interns.
• Participate in comprehensive master planning; and
• Assist clients with regulatory compliance.
