Job summary

Apex Companies, LLC is seeking an Engineer 1 – Staff Engineer to grow within a fast‑moving, nationwide firm. You will assist on transportation, water, and environmental projects, performing design calculations, field surveys, permit applications, and master planning tasks, while developing technical and regulatory expertise.

You will use AutoCAD and GIS daily, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and mentor interns. A minimum Civil/Environmental degree and EIT potential are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required.
• Excellent writing skills, familiarity with AutoCAD and GIS, proficient with MS Office; EIT helpful.
• If working toward EIT, obtain within the first year of employment.
• Driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Design calculations.
• Bid documents including specifications and drawings.
• State, federal, and local permit applications.
• Fieldwork such as surveying, GPS data collection, infrastructure inspections and assessment, water sampling, traffic counts, and construction observation.
• Contribute to reports describing objectives, methods, results and conclusions from field efforts.
• Use technical software to support transportation, wastewater, drinking water or stormwater projects.
• Use AutoCAD and GIS applications to support planning and design.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff; provide on-the-job training and mentoring for interns.
• Participate in comprehensive master planning; and
• Assist clients with regulatory compliance.
