Job summary

Apex Companies, LLC. is seeking an Engineer 1 - Staff Engineer in the United States to lead and support design for transportation, water distribution, pumping, and treatment systems.

You’ll contribute to field surveys, documentation, and regulatory compliance while collaborating with project teams across a national, growing firm. Ideal candidates hold a Civil/ Environmental Engineering degree, with 1–3 years of related experience and proficiency in AutoCAD and GIS; EIT is helpful and sponsorship

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required.
• 1–3 years of related experience.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and GIS.

Responsibilities

• Design calculations for transportation, water, and wastewater systems.
• Prepare bid documents and permit applications.
• Conduct fieldwork including surveying and water sampling.
• Support reports detailing objectives and results.
• Use AutoCAD and GIS to support planning and design.
• Mentor interns and participate in master planning.
• Assist clients with regulatory compliance.

Your Responsibilities As An Engineer 1 - Staff Engineer

• Under the direction of a Project Manager, Senior Project Engineer, or Project Engineer, perform the following items for transportation, water distribution, pumping, and treatment systems; wastewater collection, pumping, and treatment; stream and stormwater conveyance; stormwater management and design; or land planning and development:
• Design calculations;
• Bid documents including specifications and drawings;
• State, federal, and local permit applications;
• Perform fieldwork such as surveying, GPS data collection, infrastructure inspections and assessment, water sampling, traffic counts, and construction observation;
• Contribute to reports describing the objectives, methods, results, and conclusions from field efforts.
• Use technical software to support transportation, wastewater, drinking water or stormwater projects;
• Use AutoCAD and GIS applications to support planning and design;
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff. Provide on-the-job training and mentoring for interns;
• Participate in comprehensive master planning; and
• Assist clients with regulatory compliance.

What We're Looking For

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required. Excellent writing skills, previous experience preferred, familiarity with AutoCAD and GIS applications, proficient with MS Office software, and EIT certification are helpful. If working toward EIT, obtain within the first year of employment. Driver’s license
