Job summary

Apex Companies, LLC. is seeking a Staff Engineer to design, analyze, and coordinate civil and environmental projects across transportation, water, and land development disciplines.

You will perform fieldwork, prepare bid documents, and support permit applications while using AutoCAD, GIS, and MS Office to deliver high-quality results. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required.
• Excellent writing skills, familiarity with AutoCAD and GIS applications, proficient with MS Office software, and EIT certification are helpful.
• If working toward EIT, obtain within the first year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Design calculations.
• Bid documents including specifications and drawings.
• State, federal, and local permit applications.
• Fieldwork such as surveying, GPS data collection, inspections, water sampling, traffic counts, and construction observation.
• Contribute to reports describing objectives, methods, results, and conclusions from field efforts.
• Use technical software to support transportation, wastewater, drinking water or stormwater projects.
• Use AutoCAD and GIS applications to support planning and design.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff; provide mentoring for interns.
• Participate in comprehensive master planning; assist clients with regulatory compliance.

Your Responsibilities as an Engineer 1 - Staff Engineer:

• Under the direction of a Project Manager, Senior Project Engineer, or Project Engineer, perform the following items for transportation, water distribution, pumping, and treatment systems; wastewater collection, pumping, and treatment; stream and stormwater conveyance; stormwater management and design; or land planning and development:
• Design calculations;
• Bid documents including specifications and drawings;
• State, federal, and local permit applications;
• Perform fieldwork such as surveying, GPS data collection, infrastructure inspections and assessment,water sampling, traffic counts, and construction observation;
• Contribute to reports describing the objectives, methods, results, and conclusions from field efforts.
• Use technical software to support transportation, wastewater, drinking water or stormwater projects;
• Use AutoCAD and GIS applications to support planning and design;
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff. Provide on-the-job training andmentoring for interns;
• Participate in comprehensive master planning; and
• Assist clients with regulatory compliance.

What we're looking for:

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required. Excellent writing skills, previous experience preferred, familiarity with AutoCAD and GIS applications, proficient with MS Office software, and EIT certification are helpful. If working toward EIT, obtain within the first year of employment. Driver’s license

• BA/BS in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 1-3 years of related experience.
• Field data collection.
• Proficiency with MS 365.
• Excellent technical writing skills.
• Good safety record and understanding of safe work practices.
