Job summary

Invenergy, LLC seeks a Staff Engineer for Grid Modelling and Compliance to support power system modeling and maintain compliance with grid codes. This on-site role in downtown Chicago focuses on HVDC and renewable integration, employing tools like PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, and ASPEN Oneliner.

You will develop and tune plant controllers with OEMs, stay current on NERC standards, and collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, interconnection utilities, and project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar field.
• Specialized coursework in power system analysis, power electronics and control systems desirable.
• Knowledge of renewable generation operation, design, and control.
• Experience with power system modelling tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD and ASPEN Oneliner.

Responsibilities

• Perform grid studies related to power electronic and power systems control of renewable generation, battery energy storage systems, and HVDC modeling and analysis utilizing industry standard platforms.
• Develop power system models for different renewable projects in PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, ASPEN Oneliner and other tools.
• Assist in developing and tuning power plant controllers with OEMs to meet grid code requirements.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of NERC standards related to grid modeling (IEEE 2800-2022, IEEE P2800.2, WECC).
• Support interconnection and grid analysis, generation and transmission operation teams with power systems engineering expertise.
