Job summary

Wunderlich-Malec’s Electrical Testing group in Saco, ME seeks a Staff Engineer to lead electrical design, testing, and commissioning for utility, generation, industrial, and federal power systems. You’ll mentor teams, develop protection and control solutions, and coordinate with field technicians and project management.

The role covers conceptual through startup phases, including relay settings, SCADA interfaces, and documentation, with emphasis on safety and client standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical or engineering technology) preferred.
• 2–8+ years engineering and/or testing & commissioning experience including: protection and control schemes.
• Experience leading project execution activities and client-facing technical efforts.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar design software.

Responsibilities

• Engineering design and package development for Protection & Control.
• Perform relay coordination and power system studies.
• Design review and redline markups of protection design packages.
• Compliance with client standards, IEEE/NERC requirements.
• Event analysis, reporting, and corrective action recommendations.
• Field verification, startup support, and commissioning activities.
• Witness and perform critical testing: DC functional tests, relay tests, SCADA verification.
• Demonstrate safety leadership on diverse job sites.
