Job summary

Wunderlich-Malec Engineering, Inc. in Saco, ME seeks a Senior Engineer to lead electrical design, relay settings, and protection & control systems for diverse power facilities.

You will guide junior engineers, provide technical direction, and participate in all lifecycle phases from design through startup. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in protection schemes, relay settings, SCADA integration, and coordination studies, with strong communication and leadership skills to drive

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical or engineering technology) from an accredited institution preferred.
• 6–15+ years engineering and/or testing & commissioning experience including protection and control.
• Experience leading engineering teams, project execution activities, and client-facing technical efforts.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar engineering design software.
• Experience with calculating relay settings and performing coordination studies.

Responsibilities

• Develop Protection & Control design packages including one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and relay settings documentation.
• Perform relay coordination, short-circuit, load flow, arc flash, and power quality studies.
• Lead design reviews and provide redline markup on engineering packages and communications designs.
• Ensure compliance with client standards, NERC, IEEE, and industry best practices.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, designers, technicians, and commissioning personnel.
• Direct and support testing and commissioning of protective relays, transformers, RTUs, SCADA equipment, and substation systems.
• Coordinate field verification, startup support, and issue resolution during construction and operation.
