Job summary

Stripe is seeking a Staff Engineer to own and evolve Stripe's compute foundation. You will shape OS, image, and host infrastructure across multi-cloud regions, building safe, scalable, and observable systems.

Lead architectural transformations, drive fleet-wide lifecycle ownership, and mentor senior engineers while collaborating with security and compliance teams. Your work will directly impact reliability, security, and performance of Stripe's compute fleet, guiding technology decisions across

Qualifications

10+ years of professional software engineering experience in production infrastructure
Proven ability to lead large, ambiguous infra projects end-to-end
Deep Linux/system & OS configuration expertise plus multi-region cloud experience
Experience designing or operating fleet-scale image/host-management systems
Expertise in safe rollout practices: validation, canaries, rollback
Strong reliability focus with incident response and toil reduction
Ability to set technical direction and mentor engineers across teams

Responsibilities

Lead large infrastructure projects from design to production launch and long-term operation
Set technical direction for host infrastructure and machine images across regions
Design safe, observable, and rollbackable deployment practices
Lead incident response and reduce operational toil across systems
