Job summary

Alaffia Health in New York City is seeking a Staff Engineer to solve complex, cross-team technical challenges and set architectural direction. You will translate strategic goals into technical roadmaps and mentor engineers.

You will drive AI-enabled development practices, own testing strategy, and partner with product and business leaders on technical strategy. Strong TypeScript, Python, GraphQL, and cloud skills are valued.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record of leading complex, high-impact projects at scale.

Responsibilities

• Architect and own delivery of complex, high-impact systems spanning multiple teams.
• Set technical direction and coding/design standards across the org.
• Drive AI coding tool adoption (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) — establish best practices and measure productivity gains.
• Mentor senior engineers and influence technical decisions without formal authority.
• Partner cross-functionally with product and business leaders on technical strategy.
• Own testing strategy, system health, and build-vs-buy decisions for critical infrastructure.
