Job summary

ARM Group is seeking a Staff Engineer to join our solid waste practice. You will collaborate with civil, environmental and geotechnical engineers, scientists, PMs, CAD staff and others to serve client needs across waste, water, and erosion projects.

The role includes field observation, design development, technical reporting and site travel, with opportunities for professional growth and certifications.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering is required.
  • Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D is required.
  • Strong communication, planning and organizational skills are essential.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel and manage deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and update design drawings and investigation reports.
  • Observe field work and analyze potential problems.
  • Perform and/or check technical calculations.
  • Apply civil/environmental engineering principles to develop solutions.
  • Prepare technical reports, permit applications, and project communications.
  • Collaborate with team to meet deliverables and share knowledge.
  • Communicate with project managers, engineers, and team members.
  • Travel to job sites, with occasional overnight stays.

Description

As a Staff Engineer working within our well-established Solid Waste practice area, you will collaborate with a team of multi-disciplined engineers and scientists, project managers, CAD designers, and other staff to service our client’s needs. This role will support a wide range of projects related to solid waste management, environmental services, geotechnical engineering, water resources, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control planning, and construction administration.

This position can be filled at the following ARM Group locations:
  • Hershey, PA
  • Columbia, MD
  • Marlton, NJ
  • West Chester, PA
Requirements
  • Prepare, review, and update design drawings and investigation reports.
  • Observe and monitor field work to analyze possible problems.
  • Perform and/or check technical calculations.
  • Use the principles of civil and environmental engineering to develop solutions to environmental problems.
  • Prepare technical reports, letters, emails, permit applications, etc. for projects.
  • Collaborate with other team members to meet deliverables on project and obtain further knowledge and experiences.
  • Effectively communicate with key stake holders including project manager, project engineers, and other members of the project team.
  • Pro-actively recognize conditions and problems of non-routine nature, develop solutions, and seek guidance when needed.
  • Requires travel to job sites and occasionally out of the local area overnight stay.
Base Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • A self-starter possessing strong communication, planning and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Desire to work on multiple projects in parallel rather than a single large project for months.
Preferred Requirements:
  • E.I.T. certification or the opportunity to obtain certification can be developed.
Physical Requirements:
  • Mobility: Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, navigate uneven or rocky terrain, and climb stairs or ladders.
  • Lifting & Carrying: Capability to lift and move equipment or samples safely, typically weighing up to 35 to 50 lbs.
