Job summary

Inizio Evoke is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead hands-on development of scalable full‑stack systems with deep backend work (TypeScript/Node.js and Python) and meaningful frontend contributions using React.

You’ll shape architecture, drive API design, and mentor engineers while delivering well‑scoped releases in a fully remote setting. The role emphasizes system design, collaboration with product leadership, and tech leadership across the stack.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience building and operating production software systems.
• Strong backend expertise in TypeScript (Node.js) and Python.
• Frontend proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript and React.
• Experience designing and evolving production-grade APIs and services.
• Experience with relational databases and production data modeling.
• Experience building and operating systems on AWS or comparable clouds.
• Strong understanding of system design, scalability, and architectural tradeoffs.
• Experience contributing to design and delivery decisions in small teams.
• Willingness to learn thoughtful AI-assisted tooling.

The Role

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to play a central role in building and evolving our platform. This is a high-impact, hands‑on position within a small, collaborative team where writing production code is a core part of the job — alongside thoughtful system design and strong technical judgment.

You will spend a substantial portion of your time developing and shipping production systems across the stack. At the same time, you will contribute to design discussions, help shape architectural decisions, and translate technical direction into clear, actionable plans. The work spans well‑defined delivery channels and ambiguous, emerging problem spaces — this role demands equal confidence in both.

This role suits a staff engineer who leads through contribution — someone who builds with depth, approaches system design deliberately, brings clarity to complex decisions, and elevates the engineers around them.

You will report to the VP, Innovation. This is a fully remote opportunity.

What You'll Do

Hands‑On Engineering

• Design, build, and maintain scalable full‑stack systems, with primary depth in backend services (TypeScript/Node.js and Python) and meaningful contributions to React‑based frontend applications.
• Develop and evolve APIs, services, and data models while contributing to cloud infrastructure, reliability, and overall production readiness.

Architecture & Design

• Contribute to technical design and architectural decisions, helping structure systems for scalability, maintainability, and long‑term resilience.
• Evaluate tradeoffs, surface risks early, and turn high‑level direction into pragmatic, well‑reasoned technical approaches.

Planning & Execution

• Break down complex initiatives into clear, executable phases and convert agreed direction into practical implementation plans.
• Collaborate with product and leadership to refine ideas before development begins and drive consistent delivery of well‑scoped releases.
• Own team operations end‑to‑end — backlog grooming, workstream coordination, and acting as the coordination point for technical contributions entering the team.

Team Impact

• Support and mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and design collaboration while reinforcing standards for reliability, performance, and maintainability.
• Contribute to practical engineering standards and operate effectively in an environment where priorities evolve and not everything is fully defined upfront.
• Bring structure to uncertain work — triaging new problems, establishing lightweight processes where none exist, and helping the team stay oriented when scope or direction is still taking shape.

What You'll Bring

• 8+ years of experience building and operating production software systems.
• Strong backend expertise in TypeScript (Node.js) and Python, including building and maintaining production‑grade APIs and services.
• Working proficiency in TypeScript / JavaScript and React for frontend development, with backend depth as the primary expectation.
• Experience designing and evolving production‑grade APIs and service interfaces.
• Experience working with relational databases and managing data models in production environments.
• Experience building and operating systems in AWS or comparable cloud platforms.
• Strong understanding of system design, scalability, and architectural tradeoffs.
• Experience contributing to both design and delivery decisions within small, high‑ownership teams.
• Experience with, or willingness to learn, the thoughtful application of modern AI‑assisted tools to enhance productivity and problem‑solving.

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. This range may differ based on your experience and skill set, geographic location, and cost of living considerations. Compensation

$100,000 — $165,000 USD
