Job summary

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies seeks a Staff Embedded Software Engineer to advance the software stack for Design Verification of PCBAs & ECUs in Infotainment/Connectivity segments. You’ll develop embedded hardware/software stacks and collaborate with top engineers in the EV software space.

The role emphasizes board bring-up, kernel driver development, and cross-functional collaboration with hardware teams to deliver robust ECU solutions for next‑gen EV platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years’ experience in Embedded Software Development.
• Hands-on experience with high-performance SoCs (Snapdragon, NVIDIA Orin, MediaTek) and automotive-grade platforms.
• Proficient in Embedded Linux, QNX, DriveOS and virtualization (Type-1 hypervisors).
• Experience with Linux kernel configuration, device drivers, BSP and kernel bring-up.
• Experience with automotive infotainment/connectivity platforms (Camera/Display, GNSS, RF, A2B, BT Audio).
• Strong C/C++ coding skills and scripting (Python, shell).
• Experience with automotive communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet) and OS internals.
• Familiarity with ISO 26262 functional safety and CI/CD for embedded systems.

Responsibilities

• Board bring-up, verification, and debugging of automotive electronics.
• Linux build systems, device trees, and kernel driver development.
• Communicate clearly with peers, stakeholders, and OEMs/ODMs.
• Develop and execute validation strategies including stress testing for ECU subsystems.
• Analyze and optimize ECU system performance and benchmarks.
• Collaborate with hardware and validation teams for seamless ECU integration.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex software/hardware issues across teams.
• Document software designs, APIs, and test procedures.
