Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Staff Embedded Software Engineer to serve as the technical authority for embedded software, defining architectures and advancing engineering methodologies. You will lead cross-functional collaboration across software, electrical, systems, and hardware teams to drive next-generation embedded technologies.

The role interfaces with leadership and customers, shaping technical direction and solving complex software-hardware integration challenges.

Qualifications

BS or MS in CS, EE, or CE from an accredited program.
8+ years of industry software development experience.
Hands-on embedded hardware development; API design for FPGA interfaces.
Extensive C/C++ programming; real-time multitasking OS experience.
Experience with RTOS, real-time Linux desirable.
Familiarity with CM tools and defect tracking.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design and implement software for embedded devices and systems, from requirements to production and commercial deployment.
Design, develop, code, test, debug and document system software.
Review code and system designs.
Analyze code for efficiency, stability and scalability.
Integrate and validate new product designs.
Support software quality assurance and optimize I/O performance.
Provide post-production/in-orbit customer support.
Interface with hardware design and development engineers.
Assess third party and open source software.
