Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to join our Digital/Mixed-Signal Electronics team in Austin, TX. You will own end-to-end design of complex electronics for satellites and aerospace platforms, from concept through production, and lead small teams of engineers.

The role emphasizes rigorous analysis, high-speed digital design, and RF/SDR-related work, with opportunities to present designs to customers and executive teams.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or higher from an accredited university.
• 8+ years of board-level electronics design, analysis, and test.
• Expertise in digital and mixed-signal electronics including signal integrity, FPGA on boards, SDRs, and telemetry subsystems.
• PCB layout experience, including HDI stackup and high-speed routing.
• Proven success delivering hardware through production and deployment.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design of complex electronics modules and small systems from concept through schematic, layout, test, and production.
• Lead small teams of hardware engineers to develop new products.
• Develop hardware architecture and write hardware requirements for systems of moderate complexity.
• Perform detailed schematic design and PCB layout for complex boards; collaborate with PCB designers.
• Conduct board-level and box-level analyses (SI, PI) and guide result interpretations.
• Develop bring-up and verification plans; execute bring-up and validation with technicians.
• Release modules to production with Manufacturing and Test Engineering teams.
• Mentor junior and senior engineers to build technical expertise.
