Job summary

Verdantas, an environmental consulting and sustainable engineering firm, seeks an experienced civil designer to advance site grading, restoration, and hydraulic analyses in water resources projects.

You will work with AutoDesk Civil 3D, produce construction-ready plans, and support field efforts, client communications, and project teams through 100% design. A bachelor’s in Civil/Environmental related field and 5–7 years of design experience are expected; California licensure is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Biological, Ecological Engineering, or related field.
  • 5–7 years of applied design and drafting experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoDesk Civil 3D and site grading design.
  • Experience supporting the full project lifecycle from feasibility to 100% design.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine site grading and restoration designs.
  • Produce construction-ready deliverables including plans, specs, and cost estimates.
  • Support hydrologic, hydraulic, and geomorphic analyses and modeling.
  • Develop surfaces from point cloud and topographic data.
  • Participate in field efforts for site reconnaissance and surveys.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on restoration solutions.
  • Provide construction-phase support and respond to information requests.
  • Communicate design intent clearly to clients and project teams.
  • Contribute to proposals and technical docs for Eco Engineering growth.

We use cutting‑edge modeling and digital technology to deliver smart, data‑driven solutions for complex environmental and infrastructure challenges.

What You’ll Do:
  • Develop and refine site grading and restoration designs using AutoDesk Civil 3D and related tools.
  • Produce construction‑ready deliverables, including plans, specifications, cost estimates, and basis of design reports.
  • Support and contribute to hydrologic, hydraulic, and geomorphic analyses and modeling to inform design development.
  • Develop surfaces and terrain models from high‑resolution point cloud and conventional topographic survey data.
  • Participate in field efforts, including site reconnaissance, topographic and bathymetric surveys, and data collection to inform design.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop restoration solutions in riverine, wetland, and estuarine environments.
  • Provide construction‑phase support, including responding to information requests, reviewing submittals, and conducting site visits.
  • Communicate technical concepts and design intent clearly to clients, stakeholders, and project teams.
  • Contribute to proposal development and technical documentation, supporting the continued growth of the Eco Engineering department.
What You’ll Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Biological, Ecological Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5‑7 years of applied design and drafting experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoDesk Civil 3D and site grading design.
  • Experience supporting the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept design through 100% design.
  • Experience preparing construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Familiarity with geographic coordinate systems.
  • Experience developing surfaces from point clouds and topographic survey data.
  • Experience providing construction observation and support.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interface effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage one’s time and work within a set scope, schedule, and budget.
Additional Desired Experience:
  • Licensed California State professional civil engineer (or ability to obtain license via reciprocity) or an Engineer‑in‑Training status.
  • Experience with aquatic habitat restoration design, including streams, rivers, floodplains, wetlands, estuaries, and salmonid habitat.
  • Familiarity with open channel hydraulics and hydraulic modeling tools (e.g., HEC‑RAS).
  • Understanding of geomorphic and sediment transport processes.
  • Experience working in GIS and performing geographic transformations.
  • Experience with field data collection, analysis, and technical reporting supporting engineering design.
Salary Range:

$83,000‑$104,000
