Job description

STAFF DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating and conducting all new hire training as well as all annual recertification trainings company wide including CPR and EBPI. Must obtain CPR and EBPI trainer certification within 30 days of hire. This position will perform tasks designed to provide, at a minimum, Employee Training Programs to ensure staff competency, personal growth and development. This employee performs responsibilities with considerable independence within standards guidelines and policies of the organization. This position requires travel within the counties served by ComServ, Inc.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Identifies, develops, and administers a variety of training curriculums based on current best practice.
  • Researches and utilizes technology related programs and software for use in training.
  • Provides training on various technology software/programs as needs dictate.
  • Assists with technology related projects and tasks.
  • Assesses current training processes that require changes to assure the most efficient and effective processes are in place; makes recommendations to supervisor as needed.
  • In coordination with clinical leadership, develops and disseminates training schedules for the organization, including assignment of instructors for all trainings.
  • Develops a monthly ComServ newsletter and distributes on a timely basis.
  • Ensures additional qualified instructors from inside and outside the agency to provide a variety and expertise needed within the comprehensive training program.
  • Ensures back‑up trainers are in place should training assistance be needed.
  • Secures and sets up training locations.
  • Makes sure materials are available for trainers.
  • Works with each instructor to ensure the development of testing materials to determine that competency has been acquired for each employee participating.
  • Obtains needed training resources and audio‑visual aids from a variety of resources and agencies; may negotiate a contract for the purchase of services from an outside source with the CEO approval.
  • Develops positive relationships with other outside vendors related to staff training and development.
  • Monitors and maintains employee training certification database and inputs completed training for all employees.
  • Completes and disseminates training reports for supervisors.
  • In coordination with CEO, plans and schedules leadership meetings.
  • Acts as primary instructor for EBPI Training, CPR/First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens and OSHA training and any other required courses.
  • Accesses training information for audits.
  • Employee is delegated responsibility to use discretion to determine when an employee is not meeting training requirements, and to make recommendations for additional training or separation of employment during pre‑service training to appropriate leadership.
  • Implements, coordinates and administers any specialized direct support training or curriculum with appropriate leadership.
  • Prepares and submits required documentation for reimbursement of work‑related mileage, use of PTO, time, and any other required reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Conducts training audits as requested.
Regulatory
  • Keeps up-to-date with training regulation and standards.
  • Maintains certifications for EBPI, CPR and First Aide.
  • Has a working knowledge and adheres to all ComServ, Inc. Policies and Procedures.
  • Helps to maintain CARF standards.
Documentation
  • Maintains copies of in‑service training sheets.
  • Ensures that new employee pre‑service and annual recertification training is incorporated into employee training files.
Other
  • Visit service locations to model training to DSP staff.
  • Attends all organizational training required for position. Attends all outside training and education as approved or assigned by supervisor.
  • Employee in this position must be flexible with schedule and make changes as requested or required by position responsibilities.
  • Participates on committees as assigned by supervisor.
  • Acts as a role model for other ComServ, Inc. staff and individuals receiving services.
  • Ensures that all ComServ, Inc. equipment used in conducting the responsibilities of this position is used in a responsible manner and maintained appropriately.
  • Responsible for observing staff development trainers, conducting relevant annual performance evaluations, and verifying time worked and submitting time sheets for payment as appropriate.
  • Ensures and supports cultural competency in conducting responsibilities that is reflective of the community and individuals served in regard to culture, age, gender, sexual orientation, spiritual beliefs, socioeconomic status, and language.
  • Adheres to ComServ, Inc. mission, vision and philosophy.
  • Perform other duties deemed appropriate by supervisor.
  • Acts in capacity of Office Manager for central office.
  • Supports maintenance of website.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Graduation from High School, four years of progressively responsible experience in administrative functions within human service delivery program with training in subject matter to be taught. Must have EBPI, First Aid/CPR instructor certification or obtain within three months of hire. Considerable knowledge of training theory, principles and techniques preferred for adult learners. Ability to interpret, apply and communicate a variety of policies, procedures, and regulations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Ability to work well with others, communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing. Ability to train and instruct staff, act independently and make good judgments. Ability to establish rapport and relate to the individuals served, their families, community agencies, and groups, and a variety of other persons they might have contact with related to service delivery. Must be able to operate a variety of automated office equipment including a computer to communicate via e‑mail, copier, fax machine, wheelchairs, lifts where applicable, and other resident related equipment. When confronted with an emergency must be flexible enough to perform under moderate levels of stress. Have a valid driver’s license for the current state of residence and a safe driving record acceptable under ComServ’s liability carrier is required.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally and/or frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Physical demands are in excess of sedentary work; position requires walking, standing, reaching, stooping, etc. long periods of time. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of up to one hundred fifty pounds with assistance.
