Job summary

Redwood Materials is seeking a Staff Design Manager to own and drive design and engineering for construction and infrastructure development from concept through production. You will lead cross-functional teams including process engineering, construction, manufacturing, facilities, and production, ensuring alignment with company priorities and rapid, high-quality execution.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Architectural, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering; MS preferred but not required.
• PE or RA License preferred.
• Experience in heavy commercial and industrial sectors with evidence of exceptional ability.
• Experience managing multi-disciplinary scopes within A/E or Design Engineering firms. At least 10 years’ experience.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills with the ability to distill complex problems into a clear plan.

Responsibilities

• Understand stakeholder requirements and translate into clear project objectives; manage scope for dynamic environment.
• Lead Infrastructure and Tool Install projects from concept to IFC/design stages and through construction.
• Manage permitting and construction documents including transmittals and RFIs.
• Co-manage infeed of customer requests from all site teams.
• Own project funding request process for major infrastructure improvements.
• Coordinate schedule requirements with Procurement and Construction partners to ensure project success.
• Identify resource needs and gaps across stages; influence cross-functional teams.
• Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams for program alignment.
• Define strategies for design-bid-build, integrated project development, and fast-track projects.
• Understand lean construction and BIM-enabled integrated design.
• Lead feasibility studies, value engineering, and options analysis.
