Job summary

Canonical is seeking a Staff Design Engineer to shape the UX for cloud networking across MAAS, MicroCloud and Ubuntu Server networking. You will drive the UX vision, design intuitive interfaces for networking concepts, and build scalable design systems across products.

You will partner with DevOps and SRE teams, conduct user research, mentor designers, and contribute to Cannonical's design culture in a remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in product design, UX design, or interaction design
• Strong portfolio of B2B/enterprise products
• Solid understanding of cloud computing and networking fundamentals
• Experience designing for developers and operations teams
• Excellent communication skills to articulate design rationale

Responsibilities

• Define the UX vision for cloud networking across Canonical's portfolio
• Design intuitive interfaces for complex networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups)
• Create and evolve design systems and patterns across products/platforms
• Conduct user research with DevOps, network admins, SREs, and cloud architects
• Build prototypes/high-fidelity designs in Figma or similar tools
• Develop experiences for network troubleshooting, monitoring, and observability
• Work across GUI and CLI experiences for diverse users
• Mentor designers and contribute to Canonical's design culture
• Own a working group to enable Canonical design's horizontal efforts
