Job summary

Northbeam is seeking an experienced Staff Engineer to own the architecture of our data ingestion and integration platform. You’ll set direction across event-driven and batch processing, defining how we onboard new sources and ensure reliable data.

You’ll collaborate with product, engineering, and leadership to keep platform decisions coherent and scalable. You will lead across teams, mentor engineers, and shape the future of our multi‑tenant data platform, with impact on data quality, security,

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software or data engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL with cloud data warehouses.
• Experience designing API-based ETL systems at scale — REST, GraphQL, webhooks.
• Production depth with orchestration and containerized infrastructure (Airflow, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Demonstrated technical leadership: setting direction and mentoring engineers.
• Experience mentoring engineers and elevating engineering practice across a team or org.
• Sound judgment about platform durability vs. shipping.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of the ingestion and integration platform, setting the patterns for onboarding new data sources.
• Define technical direction for event-driven and batch processing, and migration decisions.
• Establish observability, data freshness, and failure handling standards for the data systems team.
• Lead design across team boundaries with data engineering, infrastructure, and product partners.
• Mentor engineers to raise the team's capabilities and code quality.
• Identify platform problems and drive them to completion.
