Job summary

Northbeam is seeking a Staff Engineer to own the architecture of the data ingestion and integration platform. You will define how we onboard new sources, shape abstractions, and ensure reliability across the system.

You will drive technical direction for event-driven and batch processing, set observability standards, and lead design across teams to keep platform decisions coherent. Mentoring engineers is a key part of the role.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software or data engineering experience with large-scale ingestion or integration platforms.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and cloud data warehouse concepts (BigQuery or equivalent).
• Experience designing API-based ETL systems at scale (REST, GraphQL, webhooks).
• Hands-on with orchestration and containerization (Airflow, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proven technical leadership, mentorship, and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture for ingestion and integration platforms to onboard new data sources.
• Set direction for event-driven and batch processing across the company.
• Establish observability, data freshness, and failure handling standards.
• Lead cross-team design discussions with data engineering, infra, and product.
• Mentor engineers and raise the engineering practice across the org.
• Identify and drive solutions for platform problems that are not scoped yet.
