Job summary

Walmart Global Tech seeks a Staff Data Scientist to build scalable end-to-end ML data products within the Marketplace engineering organization. You will collaborate with product managers and business stakeholders to deliver robust machine learning solutions aligned with Walmart's objectives.

You will own the MLOps lifecycle, design scalable training and inference pipelines, apply SRE principles to ML workloads, monitor performance, and mentor junior MLEs while collaborating across teams to scale

Qualifications

• Foundations of machine learning and statistics.
• Experience in ML, supervised/unsupervised and deep learning.
• Ability to translate complex problems into data science algorithms.
• Experience with big data analytics and identifying patterns in large datasets.
• Strong Python skills and data structures knowledge.
• Experience with Hadoop/Spark ecosystem.
• Hands-on Git experience.
• Experience with SQL and data warehouses.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable end-to-end data science solutions for ML data products.
• Own the MLOps lifecycle from data monitoring to model deployment and maintenance.
• Develop scalable MLOps infrastructure and pipelines (e.g., Kafka-based logging).
• Apply SRE principles to ML workloads, optimize cloud deployments and latency.
• Lead code quality through reviews and mentor junior MLEs.
• Provide high-level architectural guidance and break down complex tasks.
• Build training, inference, and monitoring pipelines used across Marketplace initiatives.
• Enhance data feedback/annotation workflows for labeling efficiency.
• Collaborate with product/business stakeholders to deploy holistic ML solutions.
• Balance model accuracy with computational efficiency and business impact.
