Job summary

Walmart Data Ventures in Bentonville, AR seeks a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead the design and deployment of scalable ML solutions across the production lifecycle. You will mentor teams and drive platform alignment while advancing techniques like AutoML and NLP.

You will oversee ML lifecycle, SDLC, CI/CD, monitoring, and evaluation, balancing quality, latency, and cost while delivering measurable business impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field with 4+ years in software or ML engineering.
• 6 years of experience in software, ML engineering, AI systems, or related area (alternative path).
• Experience with designing and operating large-scale ML systems, ML lifecycle, and MLOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of scalable, production-grade ML and AI systems.
• Translate business problems into technical requirements and architectures.
• Productionize DS prototypes across batch, real-time, and agentic workloads.
• Own ML lifecycle, SDLC, CI/CD, versioning, testing, deployment, evaluation, observability, and monitoring.
• Design systems balancing model quality, latency, throughput, reliability, scalability, maintainability, and cost.
• Build reusable ML infrastructure, frameworks, and platform capabilities.
• Lead production LLM/agentic systems including retrieval, tool calling, orchestration, and state management.
• Establish offline and online evaluation practices to detect regressions and production failure modes.
• Drive architecture reviews, engineering standards, mentorship, and continuous innovation.
