Job summary

Discord is seeking a Staff Data Scientist for the Experimentation Platform to ensure robust causal inference and rigorous experimental design across the organization. You will guide the vision, set roadmaps, and lead cross-functional initiatives with engineers, product, and data scientists.

You will mentor a 50+ member DS team, drive methodological advances, train teams, and partner with stakeholders to accelerate data-driven decision making and scalable experimentation at Discord.

Qualifications

• Lead experimentation platform work with rigorous statistical methods.
• PhD or equivalent with 4+ years for experiments/causal inference.
• Balance speed and reliability across diverse product launches.
• Proven ability to translate complex stats for broad audiences.
• Experience building training content on experimentation or causal inference.
• Proficiency in Python/SQL/R for analysis.

Responsibilities

• Formulate the vision and roadmap for the Experimentation Platform.
• Provide statistical expertise and ensure sound experimental design.
• Collaborate with engineering and product to improve adoption of experimentation.
• Lead education efforts with workshops and materials on design and causal inference.
• Empower the Data Science team to adopt rigorous causal inference methods.
• Lead original causal inference research on high-priority questions.
• Engage with customers—data scientists, PMs, and engineers—to enable data-driven decisions.
