Job summary

Discord is hiring a Senior Data Scientist for the Experimentation Platform to ensure sound statistical underpinnings of product experiments and to raise the rigor of causal inference across the company.

You will collaborate with engineering and product teams, lead education efforts, and empower a 50+ member Data Science team to adopt robust experimental methods and data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

• > Proven experience designing and validating statistical methodologies for experimentation platforms or similar systems, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.
• > MSc in statistics, economics, psychology, or related fields with 2+ years of experimental/causal inference work.
• > Ability to evaluate and recommend statistical approaches to improve experimentation frameworks.
• > Strong communication to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• > Experience developing training content to promote data literacy across teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to improve reliability and scalability of experimentation at Discord.
• Provide statistical leadership and ensure methodologies align with best practices in causal inference and experimental design.
• Lead initiatives to educate cross-functional teams on experimental design and causal inference concepts.
• Develop workshops and materials to demystify statistics and promote data-driven decisions across the company.
• Mentor a 50+ person Data Science team to apply rigorous causal inference methods and advance research priorities.
