Job summary

Way is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to build the intelligence layer that will shape the future of the platform. You will turn data from across our ecosystem into trusted insights, models, and decision systems that power pricing, merchandising, personalization, forecasting, and automation.

You’ll own the data foundation and collaborate with Product and Engineering to deploy production-ready solutions, operating with ambiguity and driving impact from discovery to production.

Qualifications

• Significant experience applying data science to product, marketplace, commerce, or customer problems with measurable impact.
• Experience building data and analytics foundations from raw data to production datasets.
• Strong SQL and Python skills with foundations in statistics, experimentation, forecasting, and model evaluation.
• Experience in a high-growth startup or fast-moving environment with ambiguity and ownership beyond a narrow role.
• Excellent product judgment and the ability to translate problems into testable questions with rigorous answers.
• Strong communication and collaboration with product and engineering from exploration to production.

Responsibilities

• Build the data and intelligence layer powering smarter decisions across pricing, merchandising, personalization, forecasting, and automation.
• Own Way’s data and analytics foundation and bring data from product, transactional, customer, and partner data into reusable data products.
• Define core metrics, data models, and definitions for a consistent, trustworthy view of business.
• Identify opportunities to apply data science and ML across the platform and ship models, experiments, and decision systems with measurable value.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to convert data and models into production capabilities, from insights to recommendations to automation.
• Maintain high standards of analytical rigor and clearly communicate evidence, uncertainty, and data needs.
