Job summary

Spring Health seeks a Staff Data Scientist to architect semantic and intelligence layers enabling AI-native development for profile data across members, customers, and providers. The role focuses on designing AI-augmented workflows and robust data contracts to empower engineers and data scientists, with responsibility for safety, compliance, and cross-team impact.

The position reports to the Senior Director of Engineering in Customer Value, located in San Francisco hybrid office, with in-person

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience building production ML/AI systems and real-time data pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with profile data/vector search using Snowflake and OpenSearch.
• Experience with LLM orchestration (LangGraph, LangSmith).
• Proven track record at Staff level in ambiguous, high-impact environments.
• Mentoring and developing engineers across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture of semantic and intelligence layers for profile data across teams.
• Design AI-augmented workflows and predictive ML components for decisioning and real-time inference.
• Set guardrails for safe, compliant AI usage and ensure security and correctness.
• Influence cross-team projects and remove blockers to deliver on strategy.
• Lead initiatives to improve data flows, model pipelines, and production AI systems.
