Affirm is reinventing credit with a remote‑first culture in the United States. We are scaling a Lakehouse Platform using Iceberg, Spark, and Snowflake to deliver trustworthy, cost‑efficient data infrastructure across analytics, ML, and business teams.

The role focuses on designing secure data access, governance, and scalable data pipelines while mentoring engineers and driving technical strategy in a cross‑functional environment. This is a senior technical leadership position with broad impact.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, data infrastructure, or data platform engineering with 2+ years in technical leadership.
• Hands-on leadership leading teams to build critical data infrastructure.
• Snowflake or analytical warehouses experience including access control, data masking, query optimization, and cost management.
• Experience with Apache Iceberg, Spark, and cloud-native data lake architectures.
• Experience with dbt or equivalent transformation frameworks, data modeling, testing, documentation, and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the long‑term technical roadmap for Affirms Lakehouse Platform across Iceberg, Spark, Snowflake, and cloud storage.
• Architect and implement platform capabilities for secure, discoverable, and usable data across engineering, analytics, ML, and BI teams.
• Design and operate secure, auditable data access across Snowflake and lakehouse, including RBAC, data masking, lineage, privacy policy enforcement.
• Collaborate with Analytics Engineering to evolve data modeling, pipelines, testing, and data quality practices.
• Establish best practices for lakehouse operations: schema evolution, partitioning, compaction, observability, and on‑call readiness.
