Job summary

Affirm is seeking a senior data platform engineer to shape and operate a lakehouse platform across Iceberg, Spark, and Snowflake. You will drive architecture decisions and partner with analytics teams to enable scalable, secure analytics.

Join a remote-first team building trusted data foundations, with emphasis on governance, cost awareness, and high availability. You’ll mentor engineers and influence multi-team roadmaps in a fast-growing fintech environment.

Qualifications

• Experience architecting and operating large-scale OLAP or lakehouse platforms.
• Hands-on Snowflake experience including RBAC, data masking, and cost management.
• Strong understanding of table formats, schema evolution, partitioning, and data lifecycle.
• Experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the long-term technical roadmap for the lakehouse platform.
• Architect and implement platform capabilities for secure, discoverable data.
• Design secure, auditable data access controls across Snowflake and lakehouse.
• Partner with Analytics Engineering to evolve data modeling and pipelines.
• Establish best practices for lakehouse operations and readiness for on-call.
• Identify and optimize compute and storage for performance and cost.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, ML, BI, and Product teams to translate needs.
• Stay ahead of industry trends in lakehouse and semantic layers.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of design rigor and learning.
