DoorDash is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Data to lead architectural efforts for data reliability, infrastructure, automation and tooling. You will oversee large-scale data models and pipelines powering Data Lake and Data Warehouse environments.

The role emphasizes reliability, scalability, and mentorship in a fast-paced setting. The position requires extensive hands-on leadership with 8+ years in engineering, 6+ years in data platforms, and strong SQL and distributed systems expertise.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on engineering and technical leadership across multiple projects.
• 6+ years in data platform or data engineering roles.
• Proficiency with AI coding tools in the full software lifecycle.
• Programming with Python, Kotlin or Scala.
• 4+ years with ETL orchestration tools like Airflow.
• Expertise in SQL, data reliability, distributed computing.
• Experience with Spark, Presto, and streaming tech (Kafka/Flink).
• Strong communication with technical and non-technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Own critical data systems supporting multiple products/teams.
• Develop and enforce best practices for data infrastructure and automation.
• Design and scale data models and pipelines for Data Lake and Data Warehouse.
• Improve reliability and scalability of ingestion, ETLs, and reporting tools.
• Manage a portfolio of data products delivering high-quality data.
• Onboard and mentor other engineers joining the team.
